After living in the Middle East for 10 years and not being able to find sustainable clothing, especially in sportswear, I came upon the idea to create Vain Dane Athletic. Due to the culture of single use, buy and throw away with no regards for the planet made me rethink my career. Hence the idea to create a circular and zero waste sportswear brand was born.
Sportswear made from Ocean Waste and Natural fibers
It is important to me that all materials are recycled, sustainable, regenerated, or natural fibers. Furthermore that the workers making the clothes have proper wages and working conditions.
To ensure affordable prices, I have chosen to to skip the retail link and collaborate directly with sport clubs, companies and organisations who sponsor their employees’ or members’ sportswear. For example it is possible to personalize the design and to add your own logo. – By choosing TENCEL™ T’shirts for their employees companies are choosing a greener and more sustainable option.
100% waste free circular production
A return deposit is given for all worn out Vain Dane Athletic sportswear. In order to ensure a 100% waste free circular production, we take back worn out items. Along with cutoffs and scraps from the production, these are recycled and made into yoga mats in Denmark. Larger cut-offs are made into children’s swimsuits.
VDA was established to fight the impact on the environment when producing and discarding sportswear. Whith this purpose, I hope to inspire others to do better by setting an example.
